Nexgen began as a marketing agency. I worked closely with businesses to generate leads and customer growth, and kept running into the same thing: marketing was rarely the whole problem.
Leads arrived and sat in an inbox. Enquiries went unanswered over a weekend. The same information was captured three times in three places. Reporting meant someone rebuilding a spreadsheet every month. The businesses were not short of demand — they were held back by disconnected systems, manual administration and no operational visibility.
I saw those problems most clearly in the businesses I was building and operating myself. Generic software never quite matched how the work happened, so the important parts of the process lived outside the system. That is what pushed Nexgen from marketing into software: I started building the operational systems I wanted in my own companies.
Today Nexgen builds that kind of system for other businesses — completely bespoke platforms, designed around one company’s workflows and carrying its branding, hosted and supported by Nexgen after launch. The technical work matters, but understanding how a business actually runs is the part that makes the software worth using.
The founder
An owner’s view
of the work.
Haashim Moerat is a Cape Town entrepreneur and the founder of Nexgen. Through building and running businesses, he experienced how disconnected systems, repetitive admin and missed opportunities can hold a company back.
That experience shaped Nexgen’s evolution from a marketing agency into a software development and technology solutions company. Today, Nexgen builds custom software, implements existing platforms and develops AI and automation around practical business needs.
Haashim brings an owner’s perspective to the work: understanding the people, processes and commercial goals behind every project. His focus is on creating systems that make businesses easier to run and better equipped to grow.
